The field for the culminating event on the BlackRock Tour of Champions – the BlackRock Masters Tennis at the Royal Albert Hall in London, is complete.
John McEnroe has been elevated into an automatic qualifying position after the withdrawal of Thomas Muster, while the 2001 Wimbledon Champion Goran Ivanisevic, 1987 champion Pat Cash and French Davis Cup winner Guy Forget all receive wild cards.
They join runaway rankings leader Sergi Bruguera, former French Open finalist Henri Leconte, two-time Grand Slam finalist Cedric Pioline, and defending BlackRock Masters champion Paul Haarhuis. The 1991 Wimbledon champion Michael Stich and Sweden’s Anders Jarryd have also qualified, while Britain’s Jeremy Bates and Bjorn Borg receive wild cards.
The 12-man field will be drawn into four groups of three players. All players in each group will play each other in the round-robin stages, with the top two players in each group advancing to the quarterfinals.
In addition to the main event, there will be a full schedule of entertaining doubles matches, featuring Mansour Bahrami, Peter McNamara, Mikael Pernfors and Joakim Nystrom.
